These courses are a continuation of the axis on Professionalism which begins during the first year. Emphasis during the second year is in patient-confidentiality issues, ethical and professional behavior in the doctor-patient relationship and patient's rights vis a vis societal, religious and cultural beliefs, and other scenarios.

The course will allow the student to better understand the clinical research process, including clinical trial and translational research. Student’s mentors will provide advise and support so that students can complete the required research proposal that will be elaborated upon during the third year Research 313 clerkship.
